Mtgs 2nd Tuesday, 7:00 PM St. Mary’s Convent

Pray

Developing our own individual and communal spirituality is of overall concern for us in our mission of being Jesus in our world.

Study

We have a particular interest in studying issues around nuclear weapons and proliferation as the increased militarization of society.

Act

Pax Christi Boston advocates against militarism (JROTC and ROTC) in our Catholic schools and colleges and we are involved with supporting the closure of nuclear power plants at Pilgrim and Seabrook. We are also joined with other peace and justice groups to continually pressure against the establishment of a Level IV Bio-Weapons lab by BU in the City of Boston

Mtgs 2nd Wednesday, 9:30 AM
Our Lady of Victory Centerville, MA 02632

Pray

Our group has been focusing on ministry to and with inmates in MCI Medium Security Prison where Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel is located.  Each session begins with the repetition of our mantra “Holy Spirit, go before us and prepare the way” to invite the Holy Spirit come and dwell in the prison and in our hearts.

Study

Together our members (both inside and outside the prison) read “Love Beyond Measure: A Spirituality of Nonviolence” by Mary Lou Kownacki and discussed how it applies to our lives and our ministry.

Act

After a period of careful discernment our group has placed their focus on two important issues of peace and non-violence.  First, opposing and eventually ending the death penalty everywhere and engaging in restorative justice, especially between our incarcerated member, their victims, and their families.

Pope Francis’ Prayer for Mercy

Lord Jesus Christ,
you have taught us to be merciful like the
heavenly Father,
and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him.
Show us your face and we will be saved.
Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew
from being enslaved by money;
the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness
only in created things;
made Peter weep after his betrayal,
and assured Paradise to the repentant thief.
Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us,
the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman:
“If you knew the gift of God!”

You are the visible face of the invisible Father,
of the God who manifests his power above all by
forgiveness and mercy:
let the Church be your visible face in the world, its
Lord risen and glorified.
You willed that your ministers would also be
clothed in weakness
in order that they may feel compassion for those
in ignorance and error:
let everyone who approaches them feel sought
after, loved, and forgiven by God.
Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us
with its anointing,
so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace
from the Lord,
and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may
bring good news to the poor,
proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed,
and restore sight to the blind.
We ask this of you, Lord Jesus, through the intercession
of Mary, Mother of Mercy; you who live and reign with the Father
and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever.

Amen.

Meetings 1st Monday 6:30 PM

Pray

Members of our small but active group take turns preparing prayer and reflection, which can relate to our current focus of study or injustices currently going on in the world.

Study

Meeting virtually, we have been studying On Fraternity and Friendship: Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis’ encyclical.  Each month, we have been reading a chapter or two and then discussing reflection questions from Franciscan and Maryknoll study guides.

Act

We have been crafting letters to Congress and letters to the editor for Catholic and secular press regarding immigration and gun control.  We are planning to urge the major TV networks to cover the roots of the “crisis at our southern border”, namely the desperate conditions that compel people to make such a perilous journey to the US.  We are hoping to plan an event at LaSalette later this spring which will promote reconciliation and respectful encounter with people of diverse views.  We hope to continue our collaboration with the Attleboro chapter of St. Vincent DePaul Voice of the Poor group.

We welcome new members!

Meetings are generally on the 3rd Tuesdays at 7:00pm
On Zoom or outdoors at LaSalette Shrine

We keep the Pax Christi Mission in mind during each meeting.  Our monthly Agenda:

Pray

We “Pray the News” by bringing an article or two to each meeting, sharing these current concerns. We then keep this discussed ‘intention’ in our prayer through the month until the next meeting.

Study

When a member’s topic of concern is brought to the group for discussion, that member will have researched the topic, offer suggestions and online links for learning more about the topic with the intention of a possible action.

Act

We plan activities held in the Natick library or local churches. Currently we are sponsoring an educational program focusing on peace & justice between Palestine and Israel.   We offer the “Steadfast Hope: The Palestinian Quest for Just Peace” series of three educational meetings to any interested group within a 25 mile radius of Natick; preferably during the day until 4PM.   This workbook/ manual has been researched and published by the national Episcopalian & Presbyterian churches, so you know the material is factual truth.   These meetings are co-sponsored with Mass. Peace Action.  At the end of the third session, attendees will have learned more about the true situation “on the ground” in P/I   than 98% of all others in the U.S.

We recently facilitated this series at the Xavierian Fatima Shrine in Holliston.

All are welcome at no charge.

Prayer for Peace, Tuesday mornings, 7:45-8:00 AM

Coming Soon

Pray

Every year we pray for three special intentions, with three Masses celebrated by Pax Christi priests through the year: (1) Franz and Franziska Jagerstatter (August – televised locally); (2) the Martyrs of Central America (Archbishop Oscar Romero, and the four American churchwomen: Maura Clarke, Jean Donovan, Ita Ford, and Dorothy Kazel – Fall or Spring); (3) peacemakers, family, and friends who have died in the previous year (June).

Study

This year we’re studying John Dear’s book The Nonviolent Life (Pace e Bene, 2013).

Act

Since last year we’ve been participating in actions sponsored by Greater Springfield Campaign Nonviolence, which was initiated in 2014 by four of our members, mostly rallies with speakers and marches in local neighborhoods that have been victimized by violence.
